strolling lunch in town show off snow structures lift staying warm apres ski spying on 'dog blue' spying on geese

These are a few glimpses of our trip to my mom's two week-ends ago. We usually get to have a 'date night' when we visit after Little Smith has gone to sleep. This time he was working through a serious sleep issue (which I hesitate to type so as not to jinx it... but seems resolved with the help of stickers!), so instead we enjoyed staying cozy by the fire and also managed a couple family lunches in town.

As I mentioned here, it was a sunny and glorious few days, and by the time we headed back to Boston on Sunday evening most of the snow had melted. I thought it was a perfect last winter hurrah... but there's yet another storm predicted to start tonight. James (king of snow) is thrilled of course, which is starting to grate on my nerves just a teeny tiny bit. It's not so unusual to have snow in March, but like most sane people, I'm pushing along spring.

Half way through last week, I decided it was time to put away my heavy coats and head out in just a bulky sweater. I've been completely freezing, so I think the denial has to end and the big coats need to come back out. It's okay, those warmer days will be here eventually. I'll be ready with my bulky sweater when they decide to come.

  1. HA! We just posted very similar sentiments. I love snow! I really, really do! But, it's midway through March and I'm from Tennessee and I just am used to daffodils at this point :)

Love the pictures. I want to know more about this snowchitecture James is in the middle of. Those are some serious blocks of snow!

  2. What a cute family you are. And you are looking so healthy and beautiful!

We haven't had a bit of snow this winter, but I am also looking forward to the dreary days to end and for spring weather to get here.

  4. Ah, so that is where our snow predicted for the end of the week is coming from...
We've had snow as late as early May in the mountains, but it isn't the norm by any means. We don't get nearly the quantity as you guys, just enough to form slush as soon as the sun comes up. Sigh.
No matter, heavy coat storing day will come soon enough!

  5. You have such a good attitude about winter hanging around. I'm about to lose my mind, and I'm sure it's warmer here than where you are! I do love those pictures of W and J in the snow. So fun! And W's little brown boots are awesome!

  8. Funny how winter is lingering on and on here too. Even I am ready for some sun and warmth. Little W is getting so so big, I can't believe it! Also, that looks like a real turtle on the table, which would be gross.

  11. Beautiful photos! It looks like a lovely little getaway. We have snow is our forecast this week as well and I'm pretty bummed. Somebody needs to let winter know it's time has passed. Soon enough...soon enough.
