morning light frittata green house visit exploring squash love chicken gazing sleeping kitty pop's breakfast special taking monkey for a ride

It's cold here! Seriously put a hat and socks on kind of chilly. I am slowly pulling out my old sweaters and pants that I haven't seen in so many months, wondering if my sandals might sneak in another day or two before they hibernate for the winter.

Little Smith is finally transitioning to a single nap, he was probably the oldest double napper out there but that schedule really did seem to suit him better. We have some classes in the morning now so it just makes sense to finally make the switch, but it's resulted in one very short nap a day instead of two decent one's and that's been a challenge. He is making up for it by sleeping in late, which means no time with pop in the morning and that isn't great either. We're trying to figure out a schedule that works for all of us, hopefully we sort it all out soon.

And now that little guy is up from his (way to brief) nap... so enjoy your week-end!

  1. Oh my word - all those squashes, what a beautiful autumnal sight.

It's definitely a lot colder here too - I sorted through coats this afternoon and the wood burner has already been lit.

    Have a beautiful weekend,

    Nina x

  2. Wonderful photos, as usual. I love the sight of all that squash. I also see that you DO have a lot of books, as you mentioned in the comment on my blog. Good luck with the scheduling of the nap. Any nap is a good one, I think. Nowadays, with bigger kids, on the tough days, I tell them it's an early bedtime day!

  3. Aw, what fantastic pictures!

And keep going with that nap-trying! He'll fall into a routine soon enough... or give up naps altogether (just kidding!). Emil is also transitioning to one nap a day and it's rough some days. Hang in there! I hope this weekend treats you right!

  4. Beautiful pictures! Little Smith looks like quite the charmer. :) We've been having cold mornings here and I absolutely love having to bundle up! Audrey is breaking in her sweaters and tights and getting ready for colder months. Nap transitions are hard! We're currently going down to 2 a day from 3... I know it's for the better and try to follow Audrey's lead, but I also miss getting 3 little breaks a day (though they're usually short. She's infamous for 40 minute naps).

  7. That greenhouse looks amazing. As do bagels...P took quite a while to get used to the one nap. Over time we were treated to glorious 2 (sometimes 3) hour rests after her body learned that it was her only chance! Good luck, always a new adventure this mommy thing! xx ashley

  8. Gourd greenhouse! That looks so cool.

I truly understand how hard it can be to go without naps, because Audrey is a neversleeper and has never really napped ever. Sometimes it's good for being able to go out because you're not tied down to a nap schedule, but dang. Sometimes you just want to chill out and not be a caregiver for a minute.

  11. Great pictures! The fritatta- yum. Wow, you're lucky that double nap lasted so long. Both my littles stopped before they turned one! Hope Wyatt will learn to nap a bit longer for you.
