Peaches

One of my favorite parts of keeping this online record is that I'm forced to sort through the sea of pictures on a regular basis. I wish I would have started this sooner because Little Smith's first year is overwhelming... so many photos and I just can't even begin to tackle them all and select my favorite smiles and frowns. Can you imagine what it will be like for this generation of kids to look back on their childhoods? My father was a photographer so I probably have more photos than most and still it's only a few small albums. We easily already have more pictures of Little Smith than exist of my entire youth... amazing.

I'm making a stab at organizing some of our photos and found these favorites from peach picking last summer. Big Smith was the photographer this day so I can't claim any credit, except that I had something to do with that adorable baby face slobbering all over the peach. I am trying very hard to reflect on the cuteness without sighing about how fast he is growing up... trying!

Little Smith had never eaten an actual peach (late teeth) and he's obsessed with all things ball shaped so when he realized that this was a sweet tasting ball all bets were off. Obsessed doesn't even describe his attachment to that peach, it was hilarious.

We picked a whole bunch of peaches and made pies and scones and even a couple of jars of preserves. None of those efforts made it into pictures but I bet if I'd had a blog at the time I'd have documented it... so happy to have this incentive to record all the fun this summer. Now if only it would warm up just a little!

  2. Oh, that picture of him smiling is just too much! And that hat, so ridiculously awesome. I agree with you about what blogs can do to organize your photographs, such a fun and simple way to document a life (or at least parts of it).

  5. Little Smith is TOO cute! I love these. You know, I think the photography gene runs in your family (although I know these particular ones weren't taken by you) because your photos are always amazing!

I feel the same way about the volume of photos we've acquired with the boys. It's insane. Like really insane. They'll be three this month and I've yet to make a single photo album!! My dream is to be locked away all by myself for like three days to get all the photo projects done. And I totally have a problem of not being able to choose the "best" photos - they're ALL the best, right?

  10. Sending warm weather your way... we just returned from a VERY hot farmer's market where Oliver kept asking where the peaches were (he's a fan from last summer and clearly peach season made a big impression on him!). I LOVE that first picture of W.

Wow, my dad was also a photographer and professor. I agree, it is totally overwhelming how many pictures we already have of our little guys. My how technology has changed!
