ruffles and rolls dining 'out' morning traffic first dip new tricks old and new monkeys hair meets humidity porch herbs stormy skies sweet baby sleep

Every year right about this time, I look around and realize that suddenly it's summer. Cherry blossoms are fallen, giant green and copper leaves give our humble street a bit of charm, the days are long but full of activity. I generally don't think of myself as a 'water' person, but I have been pulled to gather the kids up and head to the pond as often as we can. Baby Roo is still moving at a snail's pace, and I am trying to make the most of this stage before keeping up becomes overwhelming. I love that we can stay out of the house all day (garden, park, beach) and not spend a dime, such a welcome break after a long winter full of pricey museums and gratuitous grocery trips to combat that cabin fever.

I am already feeling that this season is moving too quickly, although it's only just begun. I know our ten month old little lady probably has a lot to do with the anxiousness. You hit ten months and everyone starts saying she's about a year... and I am so not ready for that massive milestone. She is still just a sweet rolly-polly drooling doll, how can she possibly turn one?! It's safe to say that I will be soaking in every moment of these long summer days and chubby baby thighs, while they last. It doesn't get much sweeter.

  1. It's been a while since I stopped by - your little man is looking large and happy! Love the cars all lined up and the picture of the two of them in front of the drawers. Lovely to stop by again, just going to go and have a wee catch up.. x

  2. Those chubby thighs are adorable! I'm glad you are enjoying the warm days! They definitely need to be well spent, because we don't get enough of them, do we? :)

  3. Oh, it's so hard as they grow, isn't it? I just wanted one more to really soak in those baby days, but it looks like they may be behind me. She's still a baby, she'll still be a baby for at LEAST another year in my opinion. Enjoy it, mama. Soak it in. Beautiful pictures, by the way!

    1. Thanks so much Ruthie. I am finding it even more bittersweet this time, knowing it is likely our last. Still, you never do know what the future holds- for any of us. (At least that is what I am telling myself to prevent a breakdown at every milestone).

    1. Thank you Lauren. I'm trying to be better about 'sneaking into pics. It's so easy to forget, or feel a mess and not want any... But I'm sure in time this 'mess' will look pretty good to me ;)
