Twenty-two

Well, I am officially looking pregnant. I think I've pretty much been showing from the get-go, but I still have people who are surprised when I tell them and claim they didn't notice. I'm not sure whether to be flattered or offended, because all bodies and shapes are beautiful of course, but if I really had indulged in this many sandwiches I probably would opt for a looser top... just saying.

My biggest phobia with pregnancy is a completely ridiculous one, the depletion on the belly button. No one warned me the first time that I should take a long look at my belly button and really appreciate its jauntiness. It freaked me out when it got shallower and shallower and ultimately disappeared. This time around I was prepared, but it's vanishing even more rapidly (the only evidence is that dimple on the belly silhouette). I will miss her when she's gone, who knew that I was so attached to my belly button?!

This little girl is a mover. I don't sleep well in general, but it's even more difficult when she decides to do flips every time I lay down. I can't wait to see if this translates to her personality when she gets here. Little Smith was mellow in the womb... and he's a pretty mellow kid too. I just hope she inherits her brother's sleeping habits and not mine.

I am really loving this stage of pregnancy, feeling strong, clear(ish) headed, and healthy. I am so excited to start our garden this week-end and get my hands in the dirt (don't worry, I was tested for that taxmopla...pla... something and I don't have the predisposition, so I am free to dig away). I'm itching to get everything done before the heat hits and my belly grows gargantuan, a busy and fun-filed spring ahead for sure!

  3. You look so pretty! I love that silhouette. I felt so good throughout my second pregnancy, probably because I stayed so busy chasing after Andrew. Enjoy your gardening weekend!

  4. Lilly- you are looking so beautiful! Gus was also mellow in the womb and overall is a pretty mellow kid so I do wonder if Little Lady S will be a wild one! So looking forward to your garden photos as the season rolls on. Try not to put me to too much shame. :) :)

  9. Looking so beautiful, as always!

And I was also forlorn over the loss of my bellybutton. And what weirded me out with my second pregnancy was that I got that dark line down the middle of the belly, and had escaped it the first time around. It takes forever for that thing to vanish, especially on pale skin. Jeez!

  13. As everyone else says, of course, you look amazing. I'm just getting back to my computer after a long 4 days without it (but GOOD days! Sometimes a break is nice) and I'm so happy to see a few new posts on your blog!

You know, I believe there's something to that idea that the activity of the baby in the womb translates to activity outside the womb. My first and last were very, very active in utero, and what do you know, they are the runners and jumpers in this family. But my middle guy Oliver was calm as a cucumber inside and out!

  14. I have belly button issues too - mine hasn't looked the same since being pregnant with the boys and I swear it moved higher up! Weird. And currently it's poking out all the time which is not my fave look but oh well!

You look really wonderful - Have fun in the garden!
