Happy March. I love this month, it's always full of surprises... one day I can smell mud and new life, the next we get a dumping of snow. I keep thinking last year was so mild that we were out enjoying spring blooms already, but then I looked back on the details from a year ago and it looks pretty much like life these days (except my baby boy has grown so big!).

I have been happily returning to cooking. I'm pleased to say that there were no dinners from a box this week, it's been a few months since I could make that claim. It's good to feel myself again and to reconnect with real food. Of course I'm still craving chocolate like a mad woman and I walk to the store almost daily for a candy bar... because the walking is such good exercise!

This morning was my monthly check-up with the midwife and for the first time we all went as a family. James and Little Smith got to hear the baby's heartbeat, always exciting. Next Friday is our big ultrasound when (hopefully!) we'll get to find out if we're baking a little girl or boy. I can't wait, although I truly will be happy either way... I just want to know!

This week-end we have plans to see a children's concert for a benefit and are also contemplating a day trip to New Hampshire for a proper snowshoe. I was so blah for most of this winter that we're behind on our snow fun, and it's been raining here for days (but snowing up north). Enjoy this first week-end of March!

  12. Hope you guys had a beautiful weekend. It's always so nice to have your family with you during your midwifery appointments. There's something so sweet and reassuring about having the people you love in that space.
