a portrait of my child once a week, every week, in 2013
At the window in the morning light, his favorite spot on earth.
I admired Jodi's beautiful project all last year, but initially I was hesitant to join in because I felt a bit like all I photograph is my little guy... did I really need more incentive? Then last night I started considering one of my big goals for this year being to print more photos, and this does seem like a great opportunity to be disciplined, self edit along the way, and come out with a great book full of my very favorite subject.
So I am joining in the party... late but that's usually the way I like to arrive anyway! I'll catch up at some point when a particularly inspiring week strikes. I'm excited to participate and follow along with everyone else.
That is a great shot, and such a great idea. I've been thinking I need to join some challenge again, too, but feel so blah about it. Like everything else right now... :)
ReplyDeleteMorning and evening light is so lovely to take photos in - and this is a good example! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lilly, popping over to say hello from a fellow project 52-er. Such a cute little one. I like how you have captured the reflection in this image. Looking forward to the project journey with all. Great incentive for me to practise on my DSLR too! Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteGreat! I decided to do it as well! I am so interested to see your portraits of W as he grows this year!
ReplyDeleteIts a beautiful picture! I love your twist on the challenge-- & can't wait to see what wonderful compositions you come up with!
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture. I saw this on Bleubird too, and I want to join in. Trouble is, the kids are not home during the day and the light is so poor later. I will have to sneak in some portraits before Saturday. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking all grandparents will appreciate this.. Like you I already take so many pictures of Gus it sort of seems silly to challenge myself to do more BUT I think I've decided the way to really make it a challenge for me is to put my camera on manual for these shots. Must rip the automatic bandaid off at some point.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. James never shoots in automatic but I do at least half the time because it's just so fast and consistent. This is a good place to try to challenge myself more.
Deletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and what a lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteHa, I thought the same thing when considering taking a weekly picture! I already take 1,000 pictures a week of my child, how many more do I need? But whenever I look back at pictures I'm always glad I took so many. Can't wait to see what you come up with each week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute guy. I'm looking forward to seeing these each week. :)
ReplyDeleteI also plan on joining in on this project too - you and Lauren have inspired me to try. I'm hoping I'll get around to it by Feb!
