bird calls seagulls and fog another day done a start my space morning at the park most loved green dots and lines

We've been getting cozy around here, lots of little art projects, warm meals, and evening fires. I've been doing my best to head out to the park first thing in the morning so that I don't feel guilty lazing around the house for the rest of the day. I'm not a morning person, so that early motivation can be tough. I struggle getting dressed before 9AM. In fact one day I bravely wore my nightgown out, under a long down coat... and wouldn't you know that I ran into someone I actually know. I was so self conscious making polite conversation with 3 inches of flannel hanging over my boots, not to mention my morning breath. Luckily Little Smith is still too young to be appropriately mortified.

This week-end will be action packed. I plan to make jam from berries we froze over the summer and we're getting our tree. Little Smith has lots of buddies with birthdays, so we'll be doing some partying as well, not to mention catching up on some work and a few chores.  I hope we can get it all done, I think we'll at least have fun trying!

  1. See, that's the beautiful thing about Maine.. things are very low-key when it comes to fashion. I felt overdressed and self-conscious in a pair of regular brown leather boots the other day. I proudly wear things out I would have DIED in walking around Boston. I tell myself it's a good thing but I think I may have irrevocably broken any sort of fashion sense I had before.

    Enjoy your weekend!

(And move to Maine where you can wear your jammies proudly.)

  3. When the children were babes I would always wear my pyjamas under a long coat with boots at this time of the year. A hat would cover my bed hair and I kept a packet of mints in my coat pocket...for just in case. They are some of my happier - looking back and laughable - moments. Treasure them.

    Have a beautiful weekend.

  5. Hahahaha! I drive the kids to school while in my jammies more often than I'm comfortable admitting {then race home to dress for classes in peace} & on one memorable occasion I wore pj pants to my son's cross country race...but to be fair we had to be their at dawn & I am not a morning person either. Really gorgeous photos as always-- you have a knack for making the everyday look beautiful!

  6. I'm not entirely sure, but I think we may have the same couch - different color. Either way, they're very similar and I like your taste. ;) Have a great weekend!

    1. Really? I guess we both have good taste in couches! I love it, except that the cat also loves it... a little too much. Ten years with a leather couch and I didn't consider that she would want to use this one as a scratching post. Thankfully I am very talented at weaving the fibers back together seamlessly :)

  8. I love that first photo! What a doll! He will certainly have a great series of photos of himself to look back on when he's older. Your weekend plans sound busy and exciting. I'm afraid my son's basketball tournie is going to keep us from doing too much else. We're going to try to head over to the tree farm in between games.

  9. Have a fun weekend! I'm like you: I don't like to get dressed too soon in the day. I'm trying to get motivated again to put myself together. I think the December blues are setting in! I can barely remember the days when I woke at 4am.

  12. Look at that beautiful face - those eyes and that smile!
Love the thought of you guys cosying up while we're trying to cool down here in Sydney.
And I'm the same - I constantly struggle to get dressed before 9am. :)
