The spectacle of snow, that sudden shift in light and transformation of every surface, it's nothing short of magic. Winter is unmercifully abrupt in comparison to the other season's with its entrance. I saw it today through the eyes of my toddler, who doesn't remember that he has met snow before. It was thrilling and terrifying all at once. Those wheels were spinning.
It comes with new hassles; stroller soaked, groceries wet, fingers and toes frozen, noses running... it will all get very old very soon, winter is too long here in New England. But tonight it's just the joy of a new season and a fresh snowfall.

Beautiful photos Lilly, as I have said to you before I have never seen snow! This looks very special to me.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine never having seen snow! It is special, and very cold :)
DeleteI've never seen snow before too cos its summer all year long in my country. Hope your son enjoyed touching snow! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my those eyelashes! Having never had to deal with the day to day workings of a snowy Winter we can often get all romantic about it. I never really thought about the logistics of it...particularly with little ones. Looks so beautiful though. Starting to warm up here in Australia...preparing for another long, hot summer. WIshing you a beautiful week

He is the cutest, that boy of yours. We never get snow here in Sydney - just once I would love to experience a white Christmas...
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
He's so cute ! I love his eyes
ReplyDeleteThe beginning of winter is flat out magical, but by March...sigh. Right now I can't wait for our first snowfall that sticks!
ReplyDeleteOh blimey - I see what you mean about it turning Winter like. I know there has been some snowfall in parts of the UK, but we live on the east coast and it has to get mighty chilly - like below minus and then some - for it to snow here.
ReplyDeleteI do keep my fingers crossed every year though.

First snow is magical! But yes, it can get so old, so quickly :) Your pictures are lovely, as always, lady!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute! This post gives me baaad baby fever ;) I love that one where he's sticking his little tongue out! Too cute :) xoxo, eliza
ReplyDeleteThanks Eliza, good to hear my little guy can still make for 'baby fever'... I'm always wistful that he's such a big boy now!
Deletebeautiful photos! I love the first few snows too. Then I'm done. My kids have been watching Frosty the Snowman a lot...they ask me daily when the snow is coming.
ReplyDeleteWow! I wasn't expecting this! I do love snow, but I'm not quite ready for it. Maybe I will be in a month!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't quite expecting it either! We are getting warmer temps now so it was just a warning.
DeleteWow! I can't believe you have snow already, but that really helps remind me how different the climates are around our country. We didn't have hardly any snow at all last year, but after this crazy summer I'm worried we'll have a winter of similar extremes.
ReplyDeleteThe first snowfall through my little one's eyes always brings me back to my center. I remember all at once, vividly and alive, our purpose. Oh and, Little Smith is such a cutie pie! :)
ReplyDeletewow...snow! seems funny to me to see this on your page as today our temperature is 30'c (86'F)...i have only seen snow once; during our honeymoon in new zealand. it's so pretty and makes everything look so magical.
ReplyDeletei loved those photos of little smith..he's such a darling. and his little puffer outfit and his blankie with snow on it. sooooooooo cute!
I tried to get him to leave that 'monkey blanky' inside, but he insisted on taking it out! Then he was very confused when it got covered in snow- silly boy.
DeleteThe first is always the best, right? We love a little snow here in Alabama. But, only a little. ;)
ReplyDeleteAaaaw, I love that your son is wearing ski goggles! He is adorable and these pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks you Laura. Yes, we are pretty obsessed with skiing and snowboarding in this house. He can already say 'goggle' :)
