bath-time at grandma's / october 15, 2011

How I miss this deep clawfoot tub. My bathtub is depressingly shallow and taking a bath is one of my favorite ways to pamper myself. I do it almost daily (which also allows me to avoid washing my hair which is one of my least favorite chores, but that's another story). When I was living in a dorm in college I missed having a tub so much that I once stood in a shower inside a hefty bag just to feel the water surrounding me... yeah not one of my more lucid moments and a good way to flood your dorm bathroom! I'm not sure how I managed to turn an adorable picture of my baby splashing away into an embarrassing confession of my own bathing history. He was a cutie though- right!

  1. A Hefty bag?! Too funny! I used to enjoy baths, but now that would require scrubbing the tub and having two minutes to myself where I'm not scrambling to finish the dishes or laundry or or or... but someday I am sure I will want to lie down in the hot water with a good book!

    I love this picture!

  3. Lol!! I'm a bather too, but I've never tried using a hefty bag in a shower! Baths are the best way to grab a little time to myself-- I actually have an old laptop that I'll take in the bathroom with me to watch a show while I'm soaking lol. Adorable pic as always!

  4. OH MY GOSH. That little baby! It's always really hard for me to remember Gus being that small. I'm so grateful for pictures. For the first time in our lives Craig and I have a DEEP tub right now and Craig has taken to bathing in candlelight on the regular. It's so funny! But I can't make fun of him because seriously... baths are amazing.

    1. Not so genius when I had to call for my friend to cut holes in the bottom to try and drain the water out slowly... it was not slow :)

  6. I don't know what a Hefty bag is, but still, the dedication to your love of baths that you would even attempt bathing in a bag is pretty admirable! My dorm did have a bath in the bathroom, but it was never cleaned.. so baths would be a long process of me scrubbing it out and then getting rewarded with a bath after :-) My flat last year had a short bath so you had to do strange yoga moves in order to semi-lie down - I think I was the only one who used it. And this year, finally, I have a claw foot cast iron tub which I love! something so relaxing about a bath. x

    1. Hee hee, it's a big black garbage bag. I've had one of those short baths too when I was living in France and it was miserable- just enough water for a tease!

  7. A cutie indeed! When we built our current house three years ago, we left behind the original clawfoot tub from our 1906 bungalow (along with the original marble, stained glass and hardwood floors. Sigh. I'll never stop missing that tub with its gorgeous brass faucet.

  16. I love a good bath too, now that I have a nice big tub. I hated my last little tub. This photo is completely adorable. The garbage bag thing is strange, but I like strange. ;)
