sunday breakfast chalk and rock newly knit hat birthday cake goodbye's are getting tough cat perfect weather looking for sticks afternoon light

We had a crammed but satisfying week. I had meetings or classes three nights in a row (that is busier than usual and I feel it), we squeezed in some birthday celebrating, and we spent a ton of time outside enjoying the nice weather while it lasts. Really we have been so spoiled with sunny skies and those ridiculously beautiful fall leaves showing off their colors. Why is fall such a short season!?

I have slipped back into my bad habits of staying up way too late and not getting anywhere near enough sleep, but Little Smith has been sleeping more than ever. He's actually settled into that single nap and he has been sleeping late in the morning (8AM!) too. I am hesitant to write that, because it seems whenever I announce a routine is working our luck ends... but it just might be working!

And now I am off to bed, too late as always. Enjoy the week-end.

  3. I'm a night owl too-- so hard to keep from flipping my sleep schedule the wrong way round {sleep all day, up all night}-- its just quieter at night & easier to think.
Our peak leaf looking season just passed & most of our leaves are on the ground {with a solid majority blown on our front porch}. Big winds lately. Sigh. Too short~*

  4. Beautiful photos.. I especially love the hat and the picture of papa and kiddo! And for the record.. I have definitely slipped into a weird, late night habit myself. Craig and I recently started watching sons of anarchy and we convince ourselves it's okay to stay up until 2:30 in the morning watching it. It's not the best plan.. Hope you get some rest!

  5. Oh, that photo of your two guys is so sweet!

And I know what you mean. Fall is amazing and should last at lease one month longer than it does...

    Happy Weekend, Lilly!

  6. Gorgeous pictures! How nice that you are enjoying the fall leaves. I fear I spend way too much time indoors. Happy to hear your little one is getting some rest, and giving you some rest!

  7. Oh, I've missed you Smiths and your gorgeous photography. (I took a bloggy break!) And way to go, Little Smith for sleeping more!

Your shoes in the birthday cake photo look like the most comfortable and stylish shoes ever. What kind are they?

    1. Aw thanks, hope the break did you good! As it turns out I really shouldn't have jinxed that sleep thing... still decent but not as good as last week :)

My shoes are Camper's and they're really old and still look like new. So comfortable- one of my favorites.

    1. Thanks Jen, it's actually just basic interlocking mats in white and charcoal gray. They are from Great Mats online and have worked out really well. We have had them for about two years and I think we'll probably replace them next spring, but they've held up both for play and food flinging ;)
