Snapshot:11

admiring the sunset on our wedding day / june 28, 2008

On our wedding day we were given a good piece of advice to take some time to really let it sink in, just the two of us. Our photographer managed to capture us doing exactly that, and it's one of my favorite pictures because it really brings me back to the moment. I can't believe it's been almost four years... where did the time go!?

  1. Awww! Pretty! We didn't have a wedding. We certainly didn't have a photographer. Sometimes I feel jealous seeing other people's photos. This is one of those times.

    1. Don't feel jealous! A wedding is really just a fun party (with a lot of stresses in addition to the joy involved). I'm super grateful and happy to have the memories, but the marriage is the important thing not the wedding!

    1. Came here to reply to your recent comment to make sure you got it.. I was BERATED by my hairdresser the day I got my hair cut. It got to an uncomfortable point, as it does every single time I go to get my hair cut. You would think either I would start going more frequently or she would give up and just deal with my frazzles every 6-12 months.. :)

  5. Wow. You two are stunning. Is Big Smith wearing suspenders and a bow tie?! Too cool. I wish we had spent the money on a photographer. It certainly makes a huge difference! Thank you for sharing this special moment. Lovely.

  6. Thanks guys... it was a beautiful day but what you don't see is that it was really, really hot! We got married in New York at my aunt and uncle's 'farm' which they have owned forever and my aunt has worked so hard to make more and more amazing every decade. It's a special place and we also never could have afforded to do it the way we wanted to if we'd had to go through a "wedding venue". James did indeed wear suspenders and a bow tie (and a white tux jacket... he wanted to look like James Bond :) ) Yes, the photographer was a splurge- but we both really value photography so it felt like we were commissioning an artist and worth the investment. Seems like a million years ago- but also like it's all flown by!

  8. Woweeeee! So beautiful. Seeing pictures like this makes me wish that we had opted for a real wedding, or at least a nature wedding like I wanted, instead of getting married in a church to satisfy my mom.
