Run Run Run

This past Monday was Patriot's Day here in Massachusetts and also the day of the Boston Marathon. For the last few year's we've gone to watch the runners and it's always fun to see. I've had a few friends run marathons and the training and hard work that is involved amazes me, a great inspiration to set goals and follow through.

This year was even more impressive because it was crazy hot for April. We were suffering standing and watching in the shade so I can't imagine what it was like to run for hours under the sun. Those runners were struggling and sweating, but for the most part they seemed to push ahead. I would love to be able to get into that kind of a zone, it must be a fantastic feeling.

Little Smith never smiles in new situations. He is very serious and takes it all in. We think he enjoyed himself, there was pointing and he certainly was mesmerized by the parade of neon sneakers. It's exciting to watch him discover all these crazy things that the world has to offer... even if he keeps his enthusiasm to himself!

  1. I cannot even imagine how miserable it would be to run a marathon in that kind of heat! I ran one way back when I was 26, before having kids... but it was a cool October day and just perfect weather.

Do you mind if I ask where you got W's tank? I have been looking everywhere for some of these for my boys for the summer to no avail! Just a plain tank... is it too much to ask?!

    1. It's from the Gap, not sure how big the sizes went up but they had a bunch of simple colors. I know, it's so hard to find any plain shirts for kids and when I do they're more expensive than the ones that say "mommy's perfect treasure", etc. Why is that? :)

    2. Thanks! I have found some really cute plain stuff there lately. A nice surprise! Yeah, I am with you. Why does the unlabeled stuff cost so much more than the cheesy sayings? Ridiculous!

  4. What a great experience for Little Smith! I'm sure he enjoyed himself (even if he kept his excitement private). I can't imagine the kind of determination and prep that goes into running a marathon and am always so amazed by those who can. Those poor runners in that heat! Beautiful photos (as always). Little Smith looks so adorably serious. It's too cute.

  5. Sounds like torture for the runners but glad you guys had fun! You're lucky with your little one, mine would probably watch for a minute and then be like "sum-thin else" haha such a short attention span!

  6. Your photos as always are so beautiful! I have a serious little guy too. He always seems to be in deep contemplation like Little Smith!
